A new gathering of cars and motorcycles took place last night in the Ghislenghien industrial zone (Ath, Hainaut province), prompting a robust intervention by federal and local police forces.

During the operation, an officer was slightly injured after being struck by a fleeing vehicle. Several individuals were detained, and multiple vehicles were confiscated by law enforcement. Additional information is expected from the Tournai-Mons public prosecutor’s office this Sunday.

Just a week ago, an initial urban rodeo was organised along the E42 Lille-Mons motorway, beginning at the Lamain service area on the Franco-Belgian border and subsequently at the Bury service area in Péruwelz. Investigations into these incidents are ongoing.

In the early hours of Sunday, the latest vehicle gathering, which saw the participation of numerous cars and motorcycles, occurred shortly after midnight in Ghislenghien’s industrial zone in Ath.

The police, reportedly alerted to the event, carried out a forceful intervention to halt the “urban rodeo” as described by authorities. Supported by a federal police helicopter and a water cannon, highway patrol and zonal police officers moved to apprehend the meeting’s participants.

During the crackdown, a police officer sustained minor injuries when hit by a car attempting to escape. Several individuals were taken into custody, and various vehicles were seized.
