SNCB will adjust its transport plan during July and August to cater to the increased travel towards summer events and tourist destinations.
The company announced on Thursday that, due to school holidays, there will be a reduced number of P and S trains during the week. In contrast, there will be increased services to the coast, the Ardennes, amusement parks, nature reserves, tourist spots, and numerous summer music festivals.
Additional trains will be scheduled for around twenty musical events, and a hundred night trains will return festival-goers home.
On the coastal routes, the regular service will be enhanced with “Coast Express” trains heading to Ostend, Blankenberge, La Panne, and Knokke.
During weekdays and weekends, there will be increased train services to Planckendael Zoo (Mechelen station). Additional weekend trains will run to Pairi Daiza wildlife park (Cambron-Casteau station), Walibi amusement park (Bierges-Walibi station), and Plopsaland De Panne (De Panne station) as well as Houyet, the starting point of the Lesse kayak trips. A tourist train will also operate on Saturdays and Sundays from Liège to the Ourthe Valley and the Durbuy region.
Travellers can again benefit from the Discovery Ticket, which combines entry to an attraction with a half-price round-trip train fare. These tickets are available for various locations, including Technopolis in Mechelen, the Gallo-Roman Museum in Tongeren, and areas like Mini-Europe, the Army Museum, and the SNCB Museum, Train World, in Brussels.
