Ministry of Defence has ended its collaboration with the digital talent incubator MolenGeek, as reported by La Libre on Saturday.
The “Cyber Command” initiative aimed to recruit young cybersecurity talent, but failed to hire any personnel, according to the ministry.
Three major issues led to the decision: a high dropout rate, security clearances, and employment conditions.
Defence also noted there has been no contact with MolenGeek since January 2024, when young participants were invited by the office of former Defence Minister Ludivine Dedonder.
Cyber Command, part of the Defence Intelligence Service, struggles to recruit the cybersecurity experts needed to meet its goals and had hoped MolenGeek’s training sessions would encourage participants to join the military as civilians.
