A man in his sixties was killed following an attack in Beauvechain during the night from Sunday to Monday, according to the Walloon Brabant prosecutor’s office.

Police from the Ardennes Brabançonnes and Wavre zones arrived at the scene shortly after midnight on Monday.

The victim, born in 1960, was violently assaulted in his home by a 23-year-old man with no known address.

The assault left the victim severely beaten. He attempted to seek help from his neighbours by leaving his home.

Emergency services attended, but the man succumbed to his injuries.

The suspected attacker has been arrested and detained. An investigating judge is handling the case, and a warrant for voluntary manslaughter has been sought.

The prosecutor’s office has requested the involvement of federal police scientific and technical teams, as well as a forensic pathologist.

Ongoing investigations mean authorities are not releasing further details about the crime location or circumstances, as stated by the prosecutor’s office to Belga news agency on Monday.
