The heat has impacted the road surface on several motorways in Belgium particularly in Flanders, according to a report by the Flemish Traffic Centre on Wednesday.
The road surface rose on both the E313 between Lummen and Liège and on the E314 between Lummen and Leuven.
In Diepenbeek, the concrete has now been repaired, but road users still have to use a single lane in two places until the concrete has hardened. Traffic is currently delayed by approximately 6 kilometres.
On the E314 towards Lummen, there is currently a 4-kilometre queue near Aarschot. There is also only one lane open there.
In the other direction on the same motorway, near Tielt-Winge, temporary repairs were carried out last night. The road has been clear since 5:30, but there is a speed limit of 70 kilometres per hour.
Anyone driving to the music festival Rock Werchter should expect 5 kilometres of "heavy traffic", according to the Flemish Traffic Centre.
