Forty-five community initiatives across Wallonia will receive financial support this year as part of the 'Vis mon village!' programme, run by the King Baudouin Foundation in partnership with Walloon Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Anne-Catherine Dalcq.

Nearly €200,000 has been allocated to these projects, which aim to enhance community spirit, solidarity, and local dynamics in rural villages and hamlets.

An independent jury selected the 45 winning projects from 186 applications. Liège province is the most represented with 22 initiatives, followed by Hainaut, Namur, and Luxembourg with 7 each, and Walloon Brabant with 2.

Each project will receive €5,000 in funding and opportunities to share experiences through exchange events.

In Quévy, a participatory treasure hunt will showcase features of the area's villages, while in Profondeville, a festival will feature an interactive monument with youth-created podcasts.

Verlaine will see a plant and produce exchange to combat waste, and in Rebecq, an old wood oven will be renovated.

Since its inception in 2012, 'Vis mon village!' has supported 465 projects with a total budget of nearly €2 million.
