Belgian motorcyclist found dead in Sicily

The lifeless body of Frédéric Heyden, 49, who went missing on Thursday while out motorcycling, was found at around 23:00 on Saturday in Sicily, the family of the man from Brabant Wallon told social networks and the newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.

Frédéric Heyden was staying with friends in Montedoro, a village around 80 kilometres south-east of Palermo. His friends alerted the police when he failed to return from his motorbike ride. The Sicilian authorities then organised a search using helicopters and drones. The tragic news was confirmed by Heyden's mourning sister and his half-brother.

The 49-year-old was found to have fallen into a ravine, although the exact circumstances are unclear.
