The air traffic control company, Skeyes, is looking to recruit new members in Belgium, the company confirmed on Tuesday. Candidates can register from Monday 11 August until Wednesday 8 October.

Several conditions must be met in order to participate in the selection process. Interested parties must be citizens of a European Union member state, hold a secondary school diploma (or be in their final year of secondary school) and be at least 18 and no more than 30 years of age at the end of the year. Fluency in English, in addition to French or Dutch, is also required.

"We are looking for motivated young people with strong analytical skills, good stress resistance and excellent communication skills," said Skeyes spokesperson Kurt Verwilligen. "We encourage interested individuals to inform themselves thoroughly, as it is important to meet the registration requirements well in advance."

Those who pass a series of tests, including aptitude tests, a motivation assessment, a medical examination and a security check, will be able to start their training and will be paid from the start of the programme in May 2026.

Those who successfully complete the entire training programme will be guaranteed a job as an air traffic controller at Skeyes in Steenokkerzeel, Ostend, Antwerp, Liège or Charleroi. However, those who voluntarily leave their new job within the first three years of training may be required to reimburse part of the costs.

In previous selection procedures, Skeyes received an average of 750 applications. Fifteen people were able to start the training programme.
