Belgian Customs seized 34 kilos of cocaine in the port of Antwerp, according to Belgian Customs and Excise authorities.
The narcotics were concealed in the refrigerated compartment of a container from Ecuador, with Antwerp as its final destination. The drugs will be destroyed.
According to recent drug seizure figures from the port of Antwerp for the first half of the year, 16,713 kilos of cocaine have been intercepted in 82 seizures since the start of 2025.
Customs noted that “traffickers are now attempting to bring in smaller quantities, spread over a larger number of consignments”, which complicates the task of drug detection. Over the same period last year, 62 seizures were made, involving 22,276 kilos of cocaine.
