Aspiring police inspectors in Flemish Brabant will no longer need to commute to Asse for their basic training, as the Flemish Brabant Police School (PIVO) has announced a pilot programme allowing candidates to train at the Police House in Leuven, according to the Leuven police website.
Previously, candidates who successfully passed the selection process had to attend PIVO in Asse for their basic police inspector training. Starting 1 December 2025, PIVO will also offer this training in Leuven.
The Leuven Police state, “The Police House for local police in Leuven on the Philipssite, just a short walk from Leuven station, will be the starting point for training from day one. You’ll be among colleagues and immersed in real police work, which is the ideal preparation for your future job. There are 25 places available for the basic inspector training course.”
In addition to the Leuven police, several other police zones in Flemish Brabant, particularly from the province’s east, are collaborating on this pilot project. These include the local police zones Aarschot, BRT (Begijnendijk/Rotselaar/Tremelo), BHK (Boortmeerbeek/Haacht/Keerbergen), Demerdal-DSZ (Diest/Scherpenheuvel-Zichem), Hageland (Bekkevoort/Geetbets/Glabbeek/Kortenaken/Tielt-Winge), Getevallei (Hoegaarden/Landen/Tienen/Linter/Zoutleeuw), HerKo (Herent/Kortenberg), Lubbeek, Voer en Dijle (Tervuren/Oud-Heverlee/Bertem/Huldenberg), PZ Druivenstreek (Hoeilaart/Overijse), and Zaventem.
