The list of products that can be purchased with eco vouchers has been expanded to include items like smartphones, tablets, and tumble dryers.
The National Labour Council (NAR), which includes representatives from trade unions and employers, made the decision to extend the list.
Its decision followed the introduction of new energy labels recently applied to smartphones, tablets, and tumble dryers.
Eco vouchers are electronic vouchers issued by employers to allow their employees to purchase ecological goods and services, up to a maximum of €250 per year. They are exempted from social contributions.
These vouchers can now be used for smartphones and tablets with an energy rating of Class A, and tumble dryers with a rating of Class A or B.
Subscriptions to libraries, toy libraries, baby libraries, and bike libraries have also been added to the list.
The new additions have been in effect since Tuesday, according to the NAR.
