A tragic incident occurred in Namur on Thursday when a 15-month-old child was found dead after being forgotten in a car, as confirmed by the public prosecutor on Friday.

The incident took place on Thursday morning when the child’s father was en route to a daycare centre.

He first dropped off his older child elsewhere and then proceeded to work, forgetting his younger child in the car.

The tragedy was discovered at the end of the day when the grandparents went to pick up the youngest child from the daycare centre.

A coroner has concluded that the baby died of overheating. The public prosecutor is investigating the case as involuntary manslaughter, ruling out any intent at this stage.
