The Hind Rajab Foundation and the NGO Global Legal Action Network (GLAN) have filed a complaint with the federal prosecutor concerning the presence of two alleged Israeli war criminals at Tomorrowland this weekend.

The complaint accuses the two Israelis, identified as members of the Givati Brigade of the Israeli army, of war crimes and genocide in the Gaza Strip. The complainants claim that the individuals were directly involved in indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas, torture, and forced displacement of civilians. They also see the waving of the brigade flag as a symbol of impunity. It remains unclear whether the federal prosecutor will pursue these complaints.

Tomorrowland responded by stating that military flags are generally not tolerated and are removed by security as soon as they appear. However, flags of countries, regions, states, and communities (like LGBTQIA+) are permitted at the festival as long as they do not incite hatred or discrimination, and comply with safety regulations. This means that both Israeli and Palestinian flags are allowed, but flagpoles must not pose a security risk.

“We cannot make judgments based on geopolitical sensitivities or conflicts,” said spokeswoman Debby Wilmsen. “Banning one or two flags would lead to arbitrariness, which contradicts the inclusive values and international nature of Tomorrowland. We either ban all flags, which goes against the festival’s DNA, or we apply a clear and equal policy for everyone. We choose the latter.”
