Approximately 110,000 people attended the Gentse Feesten on Tuesday, with mid-festival figures showing a total of 765,000 attendees, down from last year’s 850,000 at the same point.
The fifth day of the festival drew 110,000 visitors, partly due to a performance by Gabriel Rios. This represents a 10% decrease compared to last year. However, festival mayor Joris Vandenbroucke views this positively.
Vandenbroucke noted that the festival atmosphere has been enjoyable so far, with fewer instances of overwhelming crowds. Attendees appreciated the more relaxed experience, and there were notably fewer noise complaints from local residents.
The city services have recorded 19 noise complaints so far, compared to 31 last year. Five violations for exceeding noise limits were issued, down from nine in 2024.
Horeca prevention workers have conducted 43 awareness discussions with operators, addressing the glass ban, waste collection, and noise issues. Vandenbroucke attributed the reduction in noise complaints to cooperation and dialogue with the organisers.
