Orange Belgium reported on Thursday a growth in its customer base in the first half of the year, although customer additions slowed compared to the first half of 2024, according to the telecommunications operator’s semi-annual results released on Thursday.
The number of postpaid mobile customers increased by 48,000 to 3.515 million, representing a growth rate of 3.6%. In contrast, there was an addition of 74,000 customers during the first six months of 2024. The cable customer base grew by 13,000 units, compared to an increase of 18,000 units in the first half of 2024, raising the total number of subscribers to 1.034 million, marking a 3% year-on-year rise. Orange Belgium attributes this “performance” to the “success” of its mobile portfolio and targeted promotional campaigns.
Despite this customer growth, Orange Belgium’s revenue decreased by 1.5% to €962.7 million. However, the achievement of synergies and “efficient management” of costs led to an increase in operating profit (EBIT) to €59.2 million from €40.1 million in the first half of 2024, with the margin also improving. The group’s key indicator, EBITDAaL (operating profit excluding leasing contracts), rose by 4.7% to €264.8 million.
Ultimately, Orange Belgium returned to profitability in the first six months of the year, posting €2.5 million in profits, compared to a consolidated net loss of €17.7 million for the same period in 2024.
For the entirety of 2025, Orange Belgium forecasts its EBITDAaL to be between €545 million and €565 million.
