The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly advises against travel to the border area between Cambodia and Thailand due to ongoing conflicts between the two nations.

Increased caution is also urged for travellers in non-border areas of Cambodia and Thailand, according to a recent update of travel advisories.

“The rise in violence between Thailand and Cambodia, featuring the use of heavy weapons and exchanges of gunfire and rockets,” has prompted the Federal Public Service (FPS) Foreign Affairs to recommend avoiding travel in the border regions. The specific areas highlighted include the Thai provinces of Ubon Ratchathani, Si Sa Ket, Surin, Buriram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat, alongside the Cambodian provinces of Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pailin, Pursat, and Koh Kong.

In regions outside the border zone, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also advises “increased vigilance.” Travellers are encouraged to closely follow the instructions of local authorities.

Foreign Affairs strongly recommends travellers register on Travellers Online, where they can log their travel details. This allows authorities to better inform and assist travellers in case of an emergency.
