Police arrested two individuals following a dramatic overnight chase from Sunday to Monday that ended at Madou Square in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, Brussels Region.

More than twenty police teams and a federal police helicopter were involved in the operation,  local police in Dilbeek, Flemish Brabant, confirmed.

At around 12:45 a.m., a police patrol spotted a suspicious vehicle on Nouvelle Chaussee de Gand in Dilbeek. The driver tried to evade detection, but when officers turned around to inspect the vehicle, it sped away onto the E40 motorway.

The patrol immediately initiated a pursuit with lights and sirens blaring. The fleeing vehicle was chased along the Brussels ring road, doubled back at Jette, then drove against traffic to the Quatre Bras junction before entering Central Brussels.

During the pursuit, about twenty additional patrols and a helicopter were called for backup. The chase concluded at Madou Square, where the vehicle was finally stopped.

The two occupants attempted to flee on foot but were quickly apprehended. They were taken to the Dilbeek police station for questioning. The motive behind their flight was not immediately clear.

The investigation continues.
