EnergyVision is set to begin installing almost 2,500 new charging stations for electric vehicles at SNCB train station car parks from September, aiming to complete the project by 2027.

The contract, awarded through a public tender, covers around 420 stations with parking facilities. Previously, only 38 SNCB stations had charging stations. Signed on Monday evening, the ten-year concession agreement tasks EnergyVision with supplying, installing, maintaining, and operating the charging stations.

EnergyVision plans to install at least 5,000 charging points, with potential for expansion based on demand.

“By opting for a broad deployment of charging stations at its car parks, SNCB aims to enhance the sustainable, intermodal nature of train travel,” said Patrice Couchard, SNCB’s Director of Stations. “This makes combining car travel with train journeys even more attractive for our passengers, who can conveniently charge their vehicles while on the go.”

Founded in 2014, EnergyVision describes itself as an integrated energy and mobility company, offering products such as solar panels and charging stations. Since last year, it has also operated as an energy supplier, claiming a 1% market share in Belgium. In the previous year, the company achieved a turnover of €99.6 million, with an EBITDA of €26.9 million, and it employed 220 staff by the end of 2024.
