Bpost announced on Tuesday that its vehicle fleet will soon receive its 3,000th electric delivery van, following an order for 500 new electric vehicles expected this autumn.
Just a year ago, the number of electric vehicles used by postal workers doubled from 1,000 to over 2,000, a milestone reached by June 2024. With the recent order of 500 new electric vans, the fleet will total 3,146 electric vans upon delivery in autumn.
The company also introduced a second electric truck earlier this year for parcel transport between its sorting centres. This truck is used alternately between the sorting centres in Antwerp, Liège, and Charleroi.
Currently, Bpost boasts that it can deliver over one in four parcels using electric vehicles. By 2030, the company aims to deliver all parcels in Belgium emission-free.
