In August, public transport in Ghent will face disruptions in several areas due to planned roadworks and maintenance activities.

De Lijn, the regional transport company, will temporarily adjust several tram and bus routes. Most of the disruptions are expected to be resolved by 1 September, just as the new school year begins.

On the Begijnhoflaan, tram tracks are being finalised, causing tram line T4 to be suspended between Sint-Pietersstation and Lange Steenstraat. Tram T2 is being rerouted via Muide due to maintenance on Burgstraat. At Sint-Pietersstation, platform T1 requires new concrete, leading tram T1 to terminate short of Flanders Expo from 11 to 24 August.

Additionally, the city is carrying out asphalting works on Zuidstationstraat and Tweebruggenstraat. This results in bus lines 5, 6, 16, 33, and 70-78 taking alternative routes. The redevelopment of Wiedauwkaai is also causing diversions on lines 55 and 56, which will now run through Wondelgem and Rabot.

Travellers are advised to plan their journeys in advance using De Lijn’s route planner or app.
