Inflation in Belgium dropped from 2.15% in June to 1.92% in July, falling below 2% for the first time since January 2024, according to official statistics released by Statbel on Wednesday.
Based on the health index, inflation also decreased, moving from 2.37% to 2.08%, with the smoothed health index reaching 132.29 points in July.
Core inflation, which excludes the prices of energy products and unprocessed food, was 2.36% in July, down from 2.63% in June.
The consumer price index increased by 0.66 points this month, equating to a rise of 0.49%.
The most significant price increases in July were seen in airline tickets, hotel rooms, fuel, meat, domestic holidays, and dining in restaurants and cafes. Conversely, international travel and city breaks contributed to a decrease in the index.
