A 58-year-old man from De Pinte, East Flanders, suspected of attempting to murder his son, is set to appear before an investigating judge on Wednesday afternoon, according to the East Flanders prosecutor’s office.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at a house on Breughellaan in Nazareth-De Pinte. The exact details remain unclear, but the prosecutor has described it as a violent incident within a family setting. The 33-year-old son was taken to hospital in critical condition, and as of Wednesday morning, his condition had not changed.

The father was arrested and will appear before an investigating judge, who will decide on his continued detention. He faces charges of attempted murder, which implies premeditation. However, some media reports suggest the incident involved a dispute that led to a push, causing the son to fall down stairs. The prosecutor’s office declined to comment further but maintains the charge of attempted murder.
