During the exit phase of Tomorrowland, eight individuals were robbed of their luxury watches.
The Antwerp prosecutor’s office announced on Thursday that it has launched an investigation into these violent thefts in the vicinity of the Tomorrowland music festival. The incidents occurred during the festival’s dispersal, across both weekends.
All eight victims are men aged between 25 and 45, hailing from Hasselt, Nieuwerkerken, Schaerbeek, Schilde, the Netherlands, and India. According to the prosecutor’s office, the suspects used pepper spray or knives to carry out the thefts and moved on foot or by electric scooter.
“They did not shy away from violence and clearly targeted the luxury watches worn by the victims,” stated the prosecutor’s office. “Investigations are ongoing to determine if the incidents are linked and whether the same suspects are responsible.”
It is not ruled out that more individuals may have fallen victim to similar thefts.
