Three suspects are on the run following a robbery targeting an armoured cash transport van in Charleroi, the local Prosecutor's Office confirmed on Friday.

The Charleroi public prosecutor's office was notified in the early afternoon of the robbery on Rue de l'Acier at around 13:00 on Thursday.

According to the judicial authorities, three individuals forced their way into the vehicle to steal some of its contents. They did not use violence.

"No one was injured. At this stage, the exact amount stolen remains unknown," the Charleroi public prosecutor's office said on Friday.

Shortly after the incident, the vehicle used by the perpetrators to flee the scene was found completely burned in Rue Chapelle Beaussart, in Marchienne-au-Pont.

The public prosecutor's office confirmed that the suspects have not been identified and are currently at large. "The investigation is ongoing, and inquiries are being actively pursued."
