On Friday, around a hundred representatives from various organisations gathered at the headquarters of Vooruit, CD&V, and Les Engagés in Brussels to urge three of the governing parties to take action regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip.

Protesters were received by Gauthier de Sauvage, the Secretary-General of Les Engagés, and Conner Rousseau, the President of Vooruit, to whom they handed their letter; a similar delivery was made to CD&V’s offices.

The letter poses two key questions: whether they are willing to demand the government make a bold and immediate decision regarding Gaza, and if they would seek a new working majority should certain parties refuse to withdraw their unconditional support for Israel. The letter calls for instant action, including sanctions and diplomatic pressure.

The demonstration remains peaceful, but protesters have indicated they will stay until they receive a response, even if it means spending the night there. They have brought sleeping bags, as well as pots and pans to make noise.
