An explosion followed by a fire occurred on Saturday morning around 5:50 on Boulevard Mettewie in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, according to Brussels fire brigade reports.
The blaze caused significant damage to the facade of a hair salon, affecting several metres of the building’s exterior. The neighbouring business also suffered damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The circumstances of the explosion are unknown and will be further investigated. The incident happened only two days after gunshots were reported in Molenbeek, injuring a young man.
Police services responded to the scene, and an investigation has been launched in collaboration with the Brussels public prosecutor’s office.
