The 19th edition of Museum Night in Antwerp was completely sold out on Saturday evening, according to a press release from the city on Sunday, with a total of 10,000 attendees.
Twenty museums and cultural institutions in Antwerp opened their doors from Saturday night to Sunday for tours, performances, and workshops. Participating venues included the Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library, FOMU, Het Bos, Het Steen, KMSKA, and the Letterenhuis.
Visitors had the opportunity to play garden bingo in the renewed garden of the Rubenshuis. A starry sky was projected onto a dome at the M HKA, as a tribute to the recently deceased artist Paul Van Hoeydonck, who placed his sculpture Fallen Astronaut on the moon 54 years ago.
“The Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp was once again the crowd-puller this year,” stated the city administration. “Other museums, including M HKA and Rubenshuis, also attracted many visitors.” An afterparty hosted several hundred people at De Studio. The participating museums and cultural institutions recorded over 50,000 individual visits.
