Authorities in Antwerp are preparing to resume on Wednesday the search for the body of Heidi De Schepper, who disappeared in 2010 and is suspected to have been murdered.
Heidi De Schepper was 26 years old when she vanished without a trace in the summer of 2010. At the time, she was living in the municipality of Balen, in Antwerp, with her boyfriend and their three children aged 2, 3 and 7.
Her disappearance was never officially reported; The authorities were alerted she was missing following a report by the school attended by one of her children.

An investigation into the case started last year. In February 2025, three suspects were arrested: her then-partner Nick M., and his acquaintances Michael D. and Nick G. The latter, already convicted of another murder, is believed to have killed De Schepper. Several suspects have already made partial confessions.
Guided by information from one or more suspects, the Prosecutor and other investigative agencies have repeatedly conducted searches around Poeierstraat in Balen, including excavations. A volunteer sniffer dog team has also been involved. So far, no body has been found, but the Prosecutor remains hopeful.
