A 33-year-old man from De Pinte in East Flanders, who was involved in a domestic violence incident at the end of July, has died from his injuries, as confirmed by the East Flanders Prosecutor’s Office.
The incident occurred on 29 July at a house on Breughellaan in Nazareth-De Pinte. Details of what exactly took place remain unclear, but the incident was described as a family-related violent altercation. The 33-year-old son was taken to hospital in critical condition and died a week later from his injuries.
His 58-year-old father was arrested following the incident. An investigating judge has decided to release him under electronic monitoring, a decision that was upheld by the court last Friday.
A spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office stated that an autopsy has been conducted, but the results have not yet been released. The father is currently charged with attempted murder, although this could change as the investigation progresses. He remains free, subject to electronic monitoring.
