Last month, Belgian trains were more punctual compared to July 2024, according to data released on Thursday by the SNCB.
The punctuality rate reached 93.4%, marking an increase of 2% compared to July 2024 and a rise of 1.5% compared to June 2025.
Similar improvements have been noted for the whole year, with a punctuality rate of 91.5% over the first seven months of 2025, compared to 89.5% a year earlier. This means over nine out of ten trains arrived at their final stop in Brussels’ Nord-Midi junction with less than six minutes of delay. The punctuality rate tends to be highest during the summer months.
Last month, 17% of delays were due to the railway system’s lack of robustness, 16% were attributed to Infrabel, 24.5% resulted from third parties, and 40% were caused by the SNCB.
Meanwhile, the percentage of train cancellations fell to its lowest point of the year at 3.16%, compared to 3.8% in July 2024, as indicated by Infrabel’s online barometer.
