The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, announced on Sunday that an “extraordinary meeting” of EU foreign ministers will take place on Monday ahead of the summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the war in Ukraine.
Kallas stated that any agreement between the United States and Russia must include Ukraine and the EU, emphasising the importance of security for Ukraine and all of Europe.
President Trump is scheduled to meet his Russian counterpart on Friday in Alaska to address the conflict in Ukraine. Trump’s ultimatum to Russia expired last Friday, demanding that Moscow agree to a ceasefire with Kyiv or face economic sanctions.
