A young man died during the night from Monday to Tuesday in a road accident in Raeren, a province of Liège, the Vesdre-Gueule police zone announced on Tuesday.
At around 00:30 on Tuesday, the police received a report of an accident on Rue Breite Wege. When emergency services arrived, they found the car was on fire.
According to police, the crash was likely caused by excessive speed. Initial findings suggest the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree.
Given the force of the crash, the vehicle caught fire, overturned, and ended up on the hard shoulder, the district reported.
Despite the intervention of emergency services, the driver died.
