Night-time road works will start on Monday on the Antwerp ring road (R1) towards Ghent, according to the Roads and Traffic Agency (AWV).
The hard shoulders will be renewed on a mobile site between the Antwerp-East and Antwerp-Centre junctions.
There will be disruption until the end of September, in the form of a reduced number of lanes near the worksite, but only at night during weekdays.
During the week of Monday 25 August, asphalting and renewal work will also be carried out on the same R1 towards Ghent at the Kennedy Tunnel. Traffic towards Ghent will be restricted to one lane at night for four days and some slip roads will also be closed.
AWV emphasises that the works are highly weather-dependent and the timing is therefore subject to change. The most up-to-date information is available online.
