Two people were rescued at the Europa Terminal in the Port of Antwerp after falling from an aerial work platform, which toppled for an unknown reason.

The victims were taken to the hospital. It is not yet clear whether they are seriously injured.

"Around 11:20, we were called for a water rescue," Ninke Neirynck of the Antwerp Fire Department told VRT. "At the Europa Terminal in the Port of Antwerp, an aerial work platform toppled, causing two people to fall."

The two people were able to reach safety on a fender (a buffer pad at the edge of the quay). The fire department was eventually able to evacuate the duo from the buffer pad.
