An EasyJet flight from Lyon to Porto was forced to return shortly after take-off on Friday evening when a passenger in a psychotic state attempted to breach the cockpit.

The incident occurred shortly after the plane had departed from Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport. The 26-year-old man tried to gain access to the cockpit but was restrained by other passengers. The aircraft returned to Lyon, where police arrested the man on the tarmac.

Medical tests revealed that the man, a Portuguese national, was suffering from motion sickness and an acute psychotic episode. Authorities confirmed he had no prior police record. He was subsequently hospitalised for treatment.

The EasyJet flight continued its journey to Porto later that evening.
