Two ponies were killed on Tuesday evening in a suspected wolf attack in the Kapelstraat area of Meeuwen (Oudsbergen), Limburg Province, according to the Wolves Action Plan (WAP).
Three other ponies in the same meadow survived the attack. After a thorough examination, they were relocated to a safe location.
This is one of several incidents reported over the summer, in which animals are believed to have been attacked by wolves.
On Thursday, a meeting will be held in Oudsbergen to address the growing wolf issue.
Attendees will include Flemish Minister of Agriculture and Environment Jo Brouns (CD&V), the mayors of Bree, Oudsbergen, and Peer, the Province of Limburg, and the Agency for Nature and Forests.
