Belgium is releasing an additional €100 million in support for Ukraine, announced Defence Minister Theo Francken (N-VA) on Friday on the sidelines of an informal European meeting in Denmark.
According to Francken, the Government made the decision on the additional funds earlier this week. He said the "core" cabinet (the Prime Minister and his five Deputy PMs) gave the green light.
The money will go towards the so-called PURL (Prioritised Ukraine Requirement List) package, and means that NATO countries will pay to provide weapons from US stockpiles to Ukraine.
The €100 million is in addition to the €1 billion Belgium is supporting Ukraine with this year.
