A suspected drug dealer was arrested on Saturday in the centre of Liège, and a search was carried out in the hotel where he was staying, according to the duty magistrate from the public prosecutor’s office.
The suspect, born in 1972, was caught in the act of selling drugs in Liège’s Saint-Lambert Square neighbourhood.
Police found six grams of heroin, cocaine, and €420 in cash in his possession. A search of his hotel room uncovered further incriminating evidence suggesting involvement in drug trafficking.
The man, who is homeless and in his 50s, is already under a suspended 12-month prison sentence for drug-related offences, a ruling he has appealed.
In connection with this case, he has been detained, and an investigative magistrate has taken over the case. Authorities have also requested an arrest warrant against him.
