Bitcoin surpassed the $125,000 mark during Asian trading on Sunday, driven by investor speculation amidst a weaker dollar and the US government shutdown.
The previous record for the cryptocurrency was set in August, when its value reached $124,514. The new high now stands at $125,689 (~107,049 €).
Since the start of the year, Bitcoin has surged more than 30% in value. Analysts attribute this rise partly to the pro-cryptocurrency policies of the Trump administration.
