The Belgian-British pilot Zara Rutherford, who is currently flying solo around the world, was unable to land in Frankfurt (west Germany) on Sunday due to fog. She is now staying in the Czech Republic, reports Belga News Agency.

If she completes her global tour, the 19-year-old will become the youngest pilot to perform such a journey in this type of plane.

On August 18 of last year, the young woman took off from the Courtrai-Wevelgem airport. She has already flown across five continents and stopped in more than 50 countries. She is expected to complete her journey at Courtrai on Thursday.

Rutherford has been flying in a Shark Ultralight aeroplane, considered to be the fastest ultralight plane. It has a cruising speed of 300 kph. Normally it is a two-seater plane but for this adventure, one seat was removed and an additional fuel tank was added.

The pilot hopes that her record attempt will raise young girls' interest in aviation. For regular updates about the journey, including estimated arrival times, see here.
