A 77-year-old Belgian man who once designed costumes for the Parisian cabaret theatre Lido has been sentenced to ten years in prison by a court in Paris for the rape and sexual abuse of two underage boys.
Jean-Claude de Roo assaulted his first victim between January 2007 and October 2010. The boy was under 15 years old at the time of the initial offences.
The second victim, aged 16, was abused in 2016.
Prosecutors had sought a twelve-year prison sentence during the trial.
The court ultimately sentenced De Roo to ten years in prison, five years of socio-judicial supervision, and inclusion in the sex offender registry.
He is also banned from meeting his victims or engaging in activities involving contact with minors.
