Following the deadly shooting in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean on Monday evening, the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office has announced it is now looking for a white Skoda Scala with a licence plate from Luxembourg.

The shooting took place on Monday at around 20:35 in the Rue Dubois-Thorn, in the Beekkant neighbourhood in Molenbeek. A dark blue Nissan Note was stationed when a white Skoda Scala with a Luxembourg number plate pulled up next to it.

A passenger in the Skoda – who was armed – got out of and sat down in the stationed Nissan and subsequently shot the person inside. The victim, a 20-year-old man, died on the scene. The gunman fled on foot towards the Rue Osseghem, with the Skoda Scala also driving off in that direction.

"As part of this investigation, the police are looking for witnesses or people who have more information about the incident or who have seen the Skoda Scala vehicle afterwards," the police said. "Discretion is assured."

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to contact the investigators via opsporingen@police.belgium.eu or via the free number 0800/30 300.

This marks the ninth shooting in the Brussels municipality since early September. According to Sudpresse, the various incidents are linked to a territorial dispute between rival gangs.
