Train services between Wondelgem and Ghent-Dampoort were suspended on Monday morning due to an accident involving a person.
Rail infrastructure manager Infrabel said the disruption began at 10:30.
It is not yet clear how long the suspension will last.
Belgian rail operator SNCB/NMBS said replacement buses would be deployed as quickly as possible.
Passengers already travelling have been advised to listen to station announcements and check information screens for updates.
