The wildfire alert level has been lowered to yellow across Flanders, according to information posted on the website of the Flemish Agency for Nature and Forest.

The alert had previously been set at orange.

A yellow code means nature managers and firefighters remain particularly vigilant. There is still a risk of fire, but the danger is lower than before.

The agency has urged the public to stay alert and act with caution.

As always, lighting fires and throwing cigarette butts on the ground are prohibited.
