Train services between Bruges and the coast were suspended on Wednesday evening due to a gas leak, rail infrastructure manager Infrabel said.
The leak occurred at an external company in Bruges, according to Infrabel.
At the request of the emergency services, rail traffic was halted between Bruges and Blankenberge, Zeebrugge, Zeebrugge-Dorp and Knokke.
The disruption was expected to last until the end of the day.
Belgian rail operator NMBS has put replacement buses in service.
