Train traffic at Paris-North station has been severely disrupted due to a problem with overhead wires, affecting international departures to Brussels (Thalys) and London (Eurostar).

As for the Thalys trains between Paris and Brussels: “No train will depart from Paris or arrive in Paris before 4 PM”, operators announced.

“We recommend postponing your trip if possible.” At least three trains have already been cancelled.

Eurostar has also announced cancellations and delays for the Paris-London line.

The technical issues happened after the passing of a high-speed TGV train between Paris and Lille. According to the French national railway company, SNCF, this may have something to do with the thunderstorms in the region last night.

For safety reasons, the power supply had to be shut off for a period. Trains could gradually start running again from 2:30 PM.
