A police Special Assistance Unit has arrested a suspect in connection with a knife attack in Hasselt, Limburg Province, Belga News Agency reports.
The man was arrested on Friday evening on the Koningin Astridlaan after his victim fled into a night shop, from where the relief and police services were alerted.
The victim was taken to hospital by the relief services while the suspect was quickly located. Believing the assailant still to be armed, the Limburg local police called in the Special Assistance Unit for backup and the man was soon arrested.
An investigation is now underway to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the event.
