Two swimmers died on Saturday afternoon off the Belgian Coast, according to Blankenberge Police Chief Hans Quaghebeur.

The two men were swimming in an unsupervised zone between Blankenberge and Zeebrugge, Belga News Agency reports.

The lifeless body of one man was found first. The rescue services then tried in vain to revive the second swimmer.

Both victims were Polish nationals. One was in his thirties and the other in his forties. They had been with a group of friends in the dunes between Blankenberge and Zeebrugge before venturing out into the water.
