Motorcyclist badly injured after collision in Waterloo

A motorcyclist was badly injured after a collision in Waterloo on Saturday, local police told various media outlets.

At approximately 23:00 on Saturday, a 50-year-old driver from the Walloon Brabant town of Braine-l'Alleud was heading towards the city centre of Waterloo, when he turned left onto Chaussée Bara.

A 49-year-old motorcyclist from the Namur municipality Hastière was approaching from the opposite direction.

What resulted was a collision which sent the 49-year-old to the Delta hospital in Auderghem.

At the time, his prognosis was critical but "his condition later stabilised, and his life was no longer believed to be in danger as of Monday morning," a spokesperson for the Walloon Brabant Prosecution Service told Belga News Agency.

This incident came a day after insurance company Yago released their survey on the dangers facing Belgian motorcyclists.
