A suspect in the investigation into a shooting incident in Diksmuide was arrested on Tuesday for murder, the office of the public prosecutor of West Flanders has reported.
The 54-year-old suspect is the victim's father-in-law.
The facts date back to Sunday evening, when a 28-year-old man from Koekelare was shot dead in Diksmuide.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting were still unclear, but the prosecutor's office was able to arrest a suspect.
The 54-year-old was brought before the investigating judge on Tuesday and was arrested for murder.
The man, who turned out to be the victim's father-in-law, has denied the facts.
